Open projects

If you are interested in a Bachelor’s or Master’s thesis project in our lab, please get in touch with us using the following contact form. Projects are typically structured in the Biomedical Image Analysis Project [BIMAP] project seminar. We recommend a strong background in Python programming, Pattern Recognition, and Deep Learning (at least familiar with either TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Jax/Flax), and signal/image processing. We categorize all projects into Signal Processing (Signal), Computer Vision (CV), Deep Learning (DL), Neuroscience (Neuro) and tinyML. All projects are designed such that they are research-oriented and may yield a scientific publication. Here are the open projects in the lab that can be tackled (winter term 2023/2024 and later):

  • Diffusion models for biomedical image segmentation [MSc] [DL Signal CV]
  • 3D reconstruction of dendritic spines [BSc MSc] [Signal CV Neuro]
  • Knowledge inheritance and distillation in evolutionary neural architecture search [MSc] [DL tinyML]
  • Creating realistic microscopy images with random walk and diffusion models [MSc] [Signal DL Neuro]

Currently, we have no open positions. Next option: summer term 2024.
